Public safety extends far beyond law enforcement, requiring all branches of government to work in harmony to drive positive community outcomes. Data integration enables municipal governments to take a holistic, collective approach to public safety.

Peregrine and the National League of Cities brought together leaders from city government, law enforcement, and academia to discuss how interagency collaboration enhances public safety in a webinar, Safeguarding Tomorrow: Citywide Safety Through Interagency Collaboration.

Key takeaways from the event include:

  • All government institutions play a role in public safety and are therefore accountable to keeping their communities safe.

  • Accessible, digestible data informs collaborative conversations among residents, elected officials, law enforcement, and municipal partners.

  • Integrated governments must track diverse metrics across crime, education, health, business, and housing to make data-driven decisions for their communities.

  • Data analytics are challenging but critical to holistic government, as analysis is the best way to understand if public safety initiatives are working — or not.
